Guide to a Weekend in Maui
This was my first trip to Maui and it was amazing! There was a lot of things to do, great beaches and perfect weather. I put together a list of all the best places to eat, stay and , places to stay and where to eat Planning a trip to a new place for the first time can be overwhelming. Where to stay, where to eat and what to do are all things to plan prior to the trip. This was my first trip to Maui and it was incredible! The next time you travel to Maui, I've got you covered! I put together a guide to help you on your next adventure to Maui so that you can show up and have the best experience possible.
Transportation:
Don’t mess with it, just rent a car. Taxis are expensive and Uber is few and far between. I rented a car from Alamo for $20/day. #wellworthit
Stay:
I stayed at the Westin Maui, the location was clutch and was fairly reasonable. Situated in Kaanapali, its super close to great food and the weather was considerably better here than in other parts of the island. Not to mention, the Westin is very health focused. There are good food options and in case you didn't bring workout gear, they have New Balance clothes and shoes to rent for only $5 for your entire stay. They also had a running map that takes you along the ocean, I ran the 3 mile loop which was really enjoyable. If you want to splurge, stay at the Montage. I did a spa day there and it was on another level!
Rejuvenate:
Most of the trip was spent either on the beach, reading, working out or meditating.
One of the days I booked a service at the Montage in Kapalua and all I can say is WOAH! I highly recommend getting there several hours early to enjoy the amenities, I sure did! Eat there, workout there and enjoy the pool, its well worth it!
Eat:
The food, especially the fish and the fruit were so fresh. I’ve included all of my favorites places that I ate or wanted to eat below:
Olowalu Juice Stand (Lahaina) - Fresh coconut milk straight out of the coconut, sign me up!
Choice Health Bar (Lahaina) - Acai Bowls for days and vitality shots that are locally sourced, vegan and vegetarian. I had the dessert acai bowl, definitely a must have!
Lahaina Grill (Lahaina) - Looking for a nice place for dinner, here's your place. The fish is incredible.
Mama’s Fish House (near airport) - A Maui staple. Go here when you first get into town or on your way out. Its about 10 minutes from the airport.
Koiso (Kihei) - I tried going here, but you need to make a reservation at least 2-4 weeks in advance. Looks like a whole in the wall, but is supposed to be the best sushi east of Japan.
Miso Phat (Lahaina / Kihei) - Looking for the biggest sushi rolls you can find, plus BYOB, this is your spot!
Montage (Kapalua) - Super healthy food options, I ate breakfast here: acaí bowls, fresh squeezed juice, gluten and dairy free pancakes, its bomb!
Sansei Sushi (Kapalua) - Sat at the sushi bar and the chef made everything off menu based on what types of fish and flavors you're into, well worth it!
