Kombucha: What it is and why you should be drinking it
Kombucha, pronounced (Kom-boo-cha). You've probably seen it at your local grocery store or even on tap at select coffee shops (Alfred Coffee - Brentwood). Is it good? Does it work? I remember the first time I was introduced to kombucha, I was a little wary and thought that it didn't taste all that good. I was totally wrong, its so refreshing and tastes so good! I'm so glad I gave it a second chance because its been apart of my routine now for the past 7 years.
When I first did some research on Kombucha, I could not believe that its been around for nearly 5000 years but only produced in the U.S. for the past 20 years. Seriously!? Why have we not had this sooner? There are so many health benefits: it has a variety of essential vitamins especially B-Vitamins, amino acids, low in sugar and its a probiotic so its good for your digestion. There are also other health benefits that haven’t been studied in a clinical trial which may help improve: memory loss, cancer, high blood pressure, hair growth, strengthening of the immune system, joint pain, fibromyalgia, constipation and aging.
If you haven’t tried Kombucha, you have to try it, it will literally change your life! You can either brew it at home or you can buy it at your local grocery store. I haven't gotten into brewing my own just yet, however here are two of my favorite brands of Kombucha: GT’s Kombucha and Health Ade. They both are equally as amazing and both offer a variety of flavors. My recommendation for your first time trying kombucha is to go with a flavor that you are familiar with and enjoy. Check out my favorite flavors of each below, try them and let me know what you think!
Here are my go to's for each and a link to their website so you can look them up:
